Women's Hormone Therapy & Menopause Care

Individualized hormone therapy for women throughout Maine navigating perimenopause and menopause — because symptoms and treatment needs vary from person to person.

Perimenopause and menopause can affect far more than the menstrual cycle. Changes in sleep, temperature regulation, mood, cognition, sexual health, energy and overall well-being can significantly affect how you feel day-to-day.

We consider your symptoms, health history, risk factors, lifestyle and goals before determining whether hormone therapy is appropriate for you.

When treatment is indicated, the plan may include bioidentical estradiol, micronized progesterone and — for select women when clinically appropriate — testosterone. Care may include secure telehealth or select in-person care. Learn more about how care works throughout Maine.

Common Symptoms

You know when something has changed.

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Difficulty falling or staying asleep
  • Changes in mood or irritability
  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
  • Low libido or changes in sexual response
  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort with intimacy
  • Changes in energy
  • Changes in body composition
  • Muscle or joint discomfort
  • Changes in skin or hair

Not every symptom is caused by hormones. Part of good hormone care is identifying what may be hormonal — and what may require a closer look.

Our Approach

Individualized. Evidence-based. Whole-person care.

Hormone therapy begins with a comprehensive clinical assessment rather than a predetermined protocol. We consider:

  • Symptoms and where you are in the menopausal transition
  • Personal and family medical history
  • Current medications and health conditions
  • Cardiovascular, breast, bone and metabolic health
  • Sexual and genitourinary health
  • Lifestyle, sleep, nutrition and overall wellness
  • Laboratory testing when clinically appropriate

Treatment decisions are made through shared decision-making, with consideration of potential benefits, risks, preferences and your goals.

What We Evaluate

Your symptoms matter — and so does the bigger picture.

Menopause care does not rely on a single hormone level. Evaluation may include:

  • Sex hormone testing when clinically indicated
  • Thyroid evaluation
  • Complete blood count
  • Liver and kidney function
  • Glucose and metabolic health
  • Lipid and cardiovascular risk assessment
  • Nutritional or other testing when symptoms warrant further evaluation

Laboratory testing is used thoughtfully — not simply to chase a particular hormone number.

Treatment Options

Your treatment should fit your health and your life.

Hormone therapy can be delivered in several ways depending on the hormone prescribed, your medical history, symptoms, preferences and individual risk profile. Options may include:

  • Transdermal
  • Oral
  • Vaginal
  • Other individualized formulations
  • Testosterone

Treatment may change over time as your symptoms, health needs and response to therapy evolve.

A note on "bioidentical": bioidentical hormones have the same chemical structure as hormones naturally produced by the body. FDA-approved bioidentical options are generally preferred when they meet your clinical needs; compounded preparations may be considered in select circumstances when an appropriate commercially available option does not meet your specific medical needs.

Ongoing Monitoring

Hormone therapy is a relationship, not a one-time prescription.

Follow-up care allows us to:

  • Evaluate how you are feeling
  • Monitor effectiveness
  • Monitor safety
  • Address side effects
  • Make appropriate adjustments

We monitor what matters clinically — your response, your health, your risk factors, and appropriate laboratory findings — not simply whether a number falls within a predetermined "optimal" range.

Initial Consultation

$175

Your care begins with a comprehensive 45-minute consultation. We will take the time to discuss your symptoms, health history, laboratory results, and personal goals.

Because laboratory testing is completed beforehand, we can review your results together and create an individualized treatment plan during your consultation.

Hormone Optimization Membership

$99 per Month

Patients who choose to begin hormone therapy receive continued care through the Hormone Optimization Membership. Instead of paying a separate fee each time your treatment needs attention, your membership provides ongoing monitoring, support, and treatment adjustments.

  • Scheduled hormone follow-up visits as clinically recommended
  • Closer monitoring while beginning or adjusting treatment
  • Review of your symptoms and laboratory results
  • Individualized medication adjustments
  • Prescription and refill coordination
  • Routine portal support
